The alternative

An alternative is taking shape.

With the Green Party making gains and Your Party in the process of establishing itself, alongside independents winning in local government, the Left has a real chance to become a serious force again.

We Deserve Better exists to support strong socialist candidates to get elected, whether from one of the political parties or none.

How We Started.

We Deserve Better was launched in 2024 by Owen Jones following his resignation from the Labour Party after 24 years as a member. Since then, we have backed socialist candidates from the Greens, independents, and the socialist Labour MPs still fighting from inside the party.

Our committee — experienced figures from across the trade union, climate, Palestine solidarity and anti-war movements — directs the campaign and the funds we raise.
